盧悅穎 Joyce Lo

 
Joyce Lo obtained her Bachelor Degree in Arts in Music Composition and Master Degree in Visual Arts in Art Administration from HKBU. She began learning handbell with Ms. Emily Li during her undergraduate studies and soon became a member of Hong Kong Baptist Univesity Handbell Choir. Joyce had performed extensively and served as a committee member of the choir. She then joined Gloves Handbell in 2007 and participated in different handbell events and concerts. Joyce is currently the chairperson of Gloves.

Joyce actively engaged in music education and promotion of handbell into the musical mainstream. She became Hong Kong Handbell Academy (HKHA) tutor since 2006, and has been conductor of handbell teams from local schools. She leaded the teams to different performances and has been awarded several times in previous Hong Kong Handbell Festival (HBF) School Handbell Competitions. Also, Joyce is one of the HBF Mass Ring conductors in 2009 and 2010. Since 2009, Joyce further contributed to local youth handbell and music education by becoming a conductor of Hong Kong Youth Handbell Ensemble (YHE), and leaded the ensemble to perform in YHE concerts, HKHA Annual Concerts, and has been invited to give Christmas performance at the Hong Kong International Airport, shopping malls and community centres, and also for charity events.


張佩霞 Peony Cheung

 
Peony Cheung graduated from Hong Kong Institute of Education with Certificate in Primary Education and Bachelor of Education (Honours), majoring in Chinese and Music. She has followed Ms. Emily Li to learn handbell and achieved Certificate of Handbell Advanced Course and Certificate of Handbell Teacher Training Course.
 
In the past years, she has participated various competitions and events like Echoes for Peace concert during the 14th International Handbell Symposium in Osaka, Japan, the 4th Hong Kong Handbell Festival, Yuen Long Art Festival, TVB program, etc. In particular, she has been to Orlando, Florida to join The 13th International Handbell Symposium and National Seminar.
 
Peony was a massed conductor for the 7th Hong Kong Handbell Festival concert in 2012. Now, she is leading various handbell, handchime, belleplate teams in primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. She is also running handbell workshops and helping students to form handbell teams to join inter-school competitions in Hong Kong every year and the results are always remarkable.


劉肖璐 Lulu Lau

Lulu Lau began learning piano at a young age and, within five years, obtained the Grade 8 Piano Certificate from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) with distinction. She later studied under renowned Chinese pianist Ms. Wu Leyi, and went on to earn the ABRSM Grade 8 Theory Certificate, the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) in Piano Performance, and the Fellowship of Trinity College London (FTCL) in Piano Performance.Lulu also studied handbell music and conducting under Ms. Emily Li, participating in various masterclasses and conducting courses. Additionally, she trained in various percussion instruments under Dr. Lung Heung Wing. In recent years, she began studying harpsichord and achieved the ABRSM Grade 8 Certificate in Harpsichord. She performs at a professional level on all these instruments.

Since 2001, Lulu has been dedicated to music education, committed to promoting the development of musical arts across all age groups. She is currently a full-time piano, harpsichord tutor, and music instructor, with extensive teaching experience. She serves as conductor and instructor for various ensembles and school teams, including handbell teams, handchime teams, percussion ensembles, recorder teams, and Chinese drum teams. She is also a choir conductor, church pianist, and a Belleplate performer, actively engaging in sacred music exchanges across different churches.

Lulu is currently the conductor of the Hong Kong Youth Handbell
Ensemble and the adult handbell ensemble "Belltastic" under the Hong Kong Handbell Academy. She actively participates in annual concerts and performances, frequently leading school teams in publiperformances and competitions. Her teams have received multipleawards at the Hong Kong Handbell Festival and Inter-School Music Festival, achieving outstanding results.


伍玉妍 Purdy Ng

Purdy obtained her degree in Early Childhood Education in LiPACE and acquired grade 8 piano from ABRSM. She learned handbell ringing from Miss Emily Li and started teaching handbell in 2014.

As a former member of “The Clappers”, Purdy actively participated in different handbell performances. She is currently a conductor in different school handbell ensembles, leading the team to various performances and competitions.

 

鄧智惟 Ronnie Tang


Ronnie Tang graduated from the City University of Hong Kong, majoring in English. He is currently the chairperson of Bellaholics and a member of Gloves Handbell. Ronnie is also a member of the Handbell Association of Hong Kong since 2017, energetically promoting the performing art of handbell in Hong Kong by organizing different events.

Ronnie started ringing handbells at the age of 10 and was a member of the Hong Kong Youth Handbell Ensemble ELITE under the tutelage of Ms. Emily Li and Ms. Joyce Lo, fervently participating in various local handbell performances. From 2016 onwards, he has traveled to Vancouver, Australia, United States and Japan to attend the International Handbell Symposium, interacting with overseas handbell ringers. In 2019 as a member of the Hong Kong Youth Handbell Ensemble, he went to Europe to perform in different occasions in Finland and Estonia, winning applause from audiences.

In 2017, Ronnie becomes the handbell refurbishment technician of Hong Kong Handbell Academy, skillful in performing maintenance and refurbishment works on handbell and handchime instruments. He also had the opportunity to learn from master technician Ms. Monica McGowan during her visit to Hong Kong in 2019 and visited handbell manufacturers Schulmerich and Malmark in 2022. Ronnie also worked with Handbell Technicans In 2023 and 2024 on providing technical advice on the Made-in-Japan Handbells that are currently in development.

Ronnie completed handbell pedagogy courses in 2018 and attended Miss Emily Li’s Handbell Conducting Masterclass in 2024 and is currently the tutor of various primary and secondary school Handchime teams, leading them to achieve great result in Handbell competitions. Ronnie is also the conductor of HKHA’s Hong Kong Children’s Handbell Ensemble - Bronze Ringers. 

To achieve a higher level of handbell performance, Ronnie started learning handbell solo ringing from Ms. Emily Li and performed on different occasions as a soloist both locally and internationally. His solo performance at the 20th International Handbell Symposium received acclamation from conductors and ringers around the world.



張元軒 Yundi Cheung

Yundi Cheung obtained his Master of Arts in Music degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and has obtained a Grade 8 in Piano, Flute, Percussion and Theory from the Royal College of Music. He has also been studying Organ with Mr. Gary Tong since 2020, and has studied Handbell Conducting, and Choral and Orchestral Conducting with Ms. Emily Li and Ms. Vivian Ip respectively. He has participated in different concerts and is active in music education. He has been a pianist and conductor in annual concerts at various schools, In 2023, he graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a major in Quantitative Finance and Minor in Music.

Yundi has been learning Colorbells and Belleplates since 2004 and joined the Hong Kong Handbell Academy in 2009, ringing under the baton of Ms. Emily Li. Other than participating in annual concerts, he also frequently travels abroad to perform and exchange, including the 16th and 20th International Handbell Symposium in Vancouver, Canada in 2016 and Nashville, USA in 2022, and the Kagoshima Asian Youth Festival in Kagoshima, Japan in 2017. He also participated in a concert tour to Finland and Estonia in 2019. He joined the advance ringing event “Distinctly Bronze” organized by the Handbell Musicians of America in 2024, ringing under the baton of Mr. Fred Gramann along advanced ringers around the world.

In 2021, he became a tutor of the Hong Kong Handbell Academy. He is currently serving as a conductor for the Hong Kong Youth Handbell Ensemble and the tutor of Adult Handbell Courses.
