A short course that lets music beginners experience handchimes first-hand.

To further bring handbell music to schools, Hong Kong Handbell Academy offers “handbell music demonstration performances” for schools and organisations. In this interactive music experience, tutors use explanations, demonstrations and student participation to introduce the features of the instruments in the handbell family, and show how handbells create rich, harmonious music through teamwork.

Through the demonstration performance, students not only hear and see the clear, bright sound of handbell music, but also learn the importance of attentive listening, accurate rhythm and teamwork in ensemble playing. The activity aims to spark students’ interest in music, develop their musicality, team spirit and expressive skills, and lay the foundation for schools to introduce handbell courses or set up a handbell team in future.
